Castlevania at Comic-Con

Konami is there with an impressively large booth and giving various demos including 2 games I am very interested in. I have a soft spot for the Castlevania franchise and got some hands on time with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on the DS. During my pass by I also saw a demo of the Castlevania: Judgement for the Wii.

Castlevania: Judgement game looks intriguing and looks much like a powerstone fighting style. The graphics look pretty good especially with it being on the Wii. It seemed pretty waggle-tastic and could be fun. Unfortunately I didn’t get any hands on time with it. Perhaps because of the waggling accidents that could happen. I am going to keep an eye on this game in the future.

As for Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia I actually got some hands on time with it. First thing to stand out are the refined graphics and animation. Everything flowed really well and just looked great. The new fighting system seems very interesting. Basically it is a cross over of the monster soul stealing system but instead of it giving you power ups it actually works as your primary weapons. At first it seemed a bit odd however after a couple of skeletons it all came together and really compliments the series while adding a nice change up to the gameplay. The art style has also changes and that is a great plus to the series. Konami moved away from the anime approach and went back to the gothic art.

Overall Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia looks fantastic and I will be picking it up once it hits retail shelves. Castlevania: Judgement certainly looks interesting and I would like to experience it hands on before casting Judgement… Yeah I know bad joke.
