Geometry Wars 2 – Hands On Review

August 11th, 2008 • •

I don’t know about everyone else but I love Geometry Wars. When I heard there was a sequel I became very pumped. I was far to skeptical how the DS and Wii iterations were going to pan out. So I figured a good old sequel is just what I needed.

Let me first start off by saying WOW. I know the graphics are simple but this version looks great. I booted up the old one to do a comparison. The graphics really stand out and they will blow your mind. It’s like a laser light show and even more so then the original.

The gameplay actually works better. It isn’t as hard a the older one however still provides a challenge. It’s more of a “It’s a matter of time” vs “son of a $&@!” The achievements are really fun as well. Totally makes you wanna keep coming back. The score system is a lot easier to understand and not so unforgiving. You actually collect gems as you destroy ships more you collect more your score is multiplied.

The final thing that makes this game so great is the soundtrack. There are about 5 different modes an each has their own tracks. I actually really want an album of it. Been checking up on this and Bizzare is apparently considering releasing a soundtrack. I hope they do cause this is an album I want.

Overall totally worth the 800 points for this download. A solid start to the Summer games. Next stop Bionic Commando Rearmed!!!
