Bionic Commando Rearmed

I’ve been pumped for this game ever since I saw the trailer on Xbox Live. From the get go it seemed that Capcom made a revamp to one of the most beloved series that I missed as a kid. I figured that this would be as much the joy and frustration that I had with Mega Man. This was a total summer games buy.

The game is totally great. It screams Capcom much like the always unforgiving Capcom grading system. You know the type where it’s the best game of your life and you get a C. Well this game kind of works the same way. I first tried it on medium figuring I’ve done this before. My ass was handed to me within the first level. Basically like most games that strike the name of Capcom. It’s all about beating that first boss then it just gets easier after each one. Not to say that this game is anywhere far from easy. It’s just damn good.

The graphics are fantastic. One of the nicer looking games on the XBLA. The visual effects are nicely done and don’t stray to far from the source material. They do a great job of capturing the original feel mixed with a great HD revamp that makes you smile.

One of the things that I’ve noticed recently is that the soundtracks to some of the XBLA games are simply great. I’m still waiting for a copy of Geometry Wars 2 to show up somewhere. After seeing the trailer for Rearmed, I was hooked. The old school 8bit to the new stuff is fantastic. I actually went around hunting for both soundtracks. The Rearmed one is on Itunes. As for the song used in the trailer it’s located at Sumthing Digital. I recommend giving it a listen, it’s quite a surprise. The old music is classic but the Rearmed music takes it to a new level of great.

Overall a most stunning game that earns all of those 800 points it costs. From the soundtrack to the game play, this is a fun retro blast that reinvents the series for the next generation.

Here is the Trailer just in case you haven’t seen it. Enjoy :)
