“Spore” Set to Spawn on September 5th

If you’re tired of manipulating fully-formed humans, bored with swapping out leather pants and skirts, and are looking for something a little more primeval, get ready for the Maxis game release “Spore.”

“Spore” is described as a single-player, strategy and life-simulation game. It allows a player to, beginning with a single-celled organism, raise it into a functioning society. Every step of the game allows a person to decide what the outcome will look like, how the species will act, determining how they survive. One intriguing aspect of the game is the ability to cross-breed and play with genetics. Freaks are fun.

Originally, “Spore” was supposed to be entitled, “Sim Everything.” Thankfully, it drifted from The Sim franchise, developing into its own entity. Even the music sounds fabulous, created by the former glam rock guru Brian Eno. Additional music can be composed by the players themselves.

I look forward to the release of this game, and I’m not the only one. The love of playing God in games has been a successful marketing tool. But the thought of playing Darwin? That’s even better.

I wish they came out with this game for a console. I think even my wife would play it. Oh well, I guess they must start somewhere and computers are the cheapest medium to do that.

Haha! It looked a little like Amazon Trail to me. I’m probably the only fool whom remember that semi-educational computer game.

That was Oregon Trail…love that game as well. Sadly enough I was lead in a 5th grade play about the Oregon trail. Hopefully no one caught me on tape doing that hick accent.
