Ah what sweet nerdy bliss. My first PHPcon was quite an experience. It’s quite a moment in your life when you meet many major players in your industry and see the faces behind what you’ve been plugging away at for 10 years. Feeling a sense of place in the community really changes your outlook on what you do for a living – I realized the reason I code is not just to get the work, but it’s the ideas that come out of it that make it the most fun. This game deserves two reviews. Reason 1: it’s awesome. Reason 2: it’s vast. So my first 2 or three hours of gameplay I’ll review here. After a few more days I’ll come back and most assuredly rave some more. Let’s begin…. Read more »

Android Branching Out to Other Carriers

Was at Codeworks NYC yesterday nerdin’ it up with my fellow php’ers, (will write about that straight away), and was talking about Android coming to new providers outside of TMobile. I, being at Verizon, wanted to find out if there would be any offerings.

Sure enough, this lovely gem should be annouced officially by Verizon today for release to their customers. I am always a fan of the fixed keyboard, and that’s what really kept me away from the iPhone (although I officially recognize its awesomeness). This offering from Motorolla shapes up to be a real beauty; too bad I don’t have upgrade ready – maybe I’ll be lucky enough to have the retail price under $300.

Here are a few more links for ya! Nice site Phandroid.com!

Games like this should really be the measuring bar for ANY game that comes out – why are studios still putting out titles on the newest consoles with less than perfect rendering, clunky interfaces, terrible gameplay, etc? There are not excuses anymore, if you’re going to spend $50M on a title, do it right or get out of the game. Read more »

This is a very well done game, immensely satisfying on many levels. Very cinematic, perhaps not as well as Metal Gear Solid, but nonetheless exceptional. The constant action is very absorbing, and the advancement ladder is very well done. Read more »
