I may be a little late to the party on this one but it is still very noteworthy for us to mention since we have too many articles relating to both the iPhone and TomTom. TomTom announced at the last WWDC of an iPhone app and after many rejections from Cupertino for one reason or another, Apple has finally agrees for to third part gps navigation apps with the release of OS 3. Skype for iPhone Possibly Coming Soon

While still unoffical and a rumor, GigaOM reports Skype for iPhone client will be launched as early as next week, and with CTIA kicking off on April 1st, we’d say the timing is just about ideal. Of course, we’ve already seen a variety of alternatives for bringing Skype and other VoIP apps to Apple’s phone, but by and large, they’ve been very unimpressive. Read more »

iPhone Less Costly to Make Than BlackBerry Storm

Despite arriving months later, Research in Motion’s BlackBerry Storm is ultimately more expensive to make than its competitor from Apple, iSuppli says in a breakdown of the component costs of the two phones given to Business Week. The research group estimates that the Storm’s pure manufacturing costs come to slightly less than $203, or more than the $200 asking price for the phone online. By contrast, the iPhone 3G cost $174 as of July, less than its official $200 price. Read more »
